Our Story: A Community-Driven Journey
Rebuild Altadena began as a personal and community response to tragedy. In early 2025, the Eaton Canyon Fire swept through Altadena, devastating homes and changing lives overnight. While our founder personally experienced the heartbreak of losing his newly remodeled home, he quickly realized he was not alone—the entire community was grieving, rebuilding, and searching for a path forward.
Neighbors, homeowners, architects, designers, and construction professionals—many of them Altadena residents themselves—came together, united by a common goal: to rebuild our community with integrity, transparency, and a people-first approach.

David Ly – A Local Expert Committed to Rebuilding Altadena
In 2025, David’s own home was tragically destroyed in the Eaton Canyon Fire. That loss gave him a profound understanding of the emotional and logistical challenges that fire victims face: Should I rebuild or sell? Will insurance cover the full cost? How long will the process take? What are the next steps? Now, combining his personal experience with over 20 years of construction expertise, David is leading the charge to help his neighbors rebuild with confidence and clarity.
Through Rebuild Altadena, he guides homeowners through every stage of the recovery process—from navigating insurance and securing permits to designing, budgeting, sourcing materials, and managing construction—ensuring each home is rebuilt stronger, smarter, and with lasting resilience. David’s mission is more than rebuilding homes—it’s about restoring Altadena’s heart. With every project, he helps residents return not just to a house, but to a sense of stability, community, and hope.
David is a seasoned California State Licensed Contractor with over two decades of experience in residential and commercial development. A long-time resident of Altadena, he has devoted his career to revitalizing communities across Los Angeles—specializing in ground-up custom homes, condo conversions, townhome developments, and high-end restaurant and entertainment venue construction.
His passion for craftsmanship and design has taken him across the globe, studying architecture in Italy, France, and Spain. These international experiences have shaped his meticulous eye for detail, refined his expertise in material sourcing, and deepened his commitment to quality, durability, and aesthetic excellence.
