A roundup of what happened last week in Altadena from the town council meeting to library healing programs and recovery-forum action and ho
w it connects to rebuilding our community.

Last week in Altadena we saw meaningful movement: the town council convened, the library launched a healing-arts program for fire-impacted residents, and a virtual candidate forum gave voice to those still recovering from the blaze. At Rebuild Altadena, we’re committed to capturing these moments of connection, update, and hope so that rebuilding is grounded in community first.

1. Town Council Meeting Recap

On Tuesday, the Altadena Town Council held its regular monthly meeting (Oct 21, 2025) at 7 PM.   Key take aways:
    •    Candidates for the upcoming election made statements acknowledging the recovery needs of fire-impacted neighborhoods.
    •    Public safety, utilities repair and land-use were high on the agenda (especially given ongoing rebuilding pressures).
    •    The council reiterated that rebuilding must reflect resident-voices and that forums like the one below are vital. https://altadenatowncouncil.org/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

2. Library Led Healing & Community Programs

The Altadena Library District published its upcoming calendar which includes programs specifically designed for families and individuals impacted by the Jan 2025 blaze.
One highlighted program: Arts + Connections for Families collaborative, creative sessions rooted in resilience-based curriculum for those who’ve gone through difficult times (including fire-impact recovery).
This is a vital piece of our rebuilding story: emotional, mental and community health must go hand-in-hand with the physical rebuilding of homes. https://www.altadenalibrary.org/programs

3. Virtual Forum with 21 Candidates & Fire-Survivor Testimonies

According to a recent article, 21 candidates facing Altadena voters participated in a virtual forum where fire-survivors gave emotional testimony about home-loss, displacement and rebuilding challenges.
This event underscores the link between community recovery efforts and civic engagement: whose voices are shaping the rebuilding decisions? The survivors speaking up last week are a strong reminder. https://pasadenanow.com/main/21-candidates-to-face-altadena-voters-in-virtual-forum-tuesday-night?utm_source=chatgpt.com
