David Ly founder Rebuild Altadena Joined Steadfast LA event to see the Future of Our Town
A Day of Vision and Community at Loma Alta Park
This past Saturday, David Ly, founder of Rebuild Altadena, attended the Steadfast LA Urban Design Open House at Loma Alta Park a vibrant community gathering focused on exploring how Altadena can be rebuilt, reimagined, and strengthened after the Eaton Fire.
The event, hosted by Steadfast LA in partnership with Los Angeles County Regional Planning and other design teams, invited local residents to share ideas about Altadena’s future. The conversation centered on big, forward-thinking questions like:
Should Altadena become a destination?
If so, what kind of destination do we want to be?
How can we rebuild in ways that preserve our roots while preparing for the future?
It was an afternoon full of creativity, collaboration, and community pride.
Listening to the People: Ideas That Inspire
Large, interactive boards lined the walls of the event, allowing residents to post notes, questions, and visions for Altadena’s future. From ideas about more sustainable building practices to hopes for family-friendly public spaces, every voice added a piece to the collective vision.
David Ly shared afterward that it was “inspiring to see how engaged the people of Altadena are in shaping their community. Everyone here wants to rebuild smarter, safer, and stronger not just restore what was lost.”
Rebuild Altadena’s Role in the Movement
As both a builder and community advocate, Rebuild Altadena’s mission goes beyond construction. The organization continues to champion education, transparency, and local collaboration in the rebuilding process.
At events like this one, David Ly and his team help residents understand rebuilding options, county resources, and sustainable design approaches that align with Altadena’s history and environmental needs.
“Our goal,” David added, “is to help families and property owners make informed decisions—to rebuild not just homes, but hope.”
What’s Next for Altadena’s Future
The input gathered during Steadfast’s open house will inform upcoming design workshops where planners, architects, and residents will work together to shape official proposals. These designs aim to bring to life the community’s ideas for greener infrastructure, safer streets, and stronger fire-resistant building practices.
Rebuild Altadena plans to remain an active partner in these conversations—helping bridge the gap between vision and implementation for the people of Altadena.
